Volume indicator doesn't work

Bug Description

The volume indicator icon shows the volume as muted, but sound is on. I can click on the indicator to pop up the menu, but neither the sliders nor the buttons have any effect.

Changing sound settings through the "Sound" unity control center application works fine.

Your bug report seems to show you're using Unity 7 and not Gnome Shell, so reassigning this to unity.

Can you reproduce on fresh install/live iso? Please try with latest live iso.
