Bug Description

Ubuntu 7.10

Installing software, installation was interrupted, I tried to restart the installation process and was told that 'only one software management tool is allowed to run at the same time'. I have tried restarting Ubuntu but this has not corrected the problem.

From what I have learned its a problem with Gdebi Package Installer. Ubuntu seems to think its still running despite the fact that my computer has been rebooted several times.

This is basically the infamous "installation gets interrupted, dpkg lock doesn't disappear" bug which is fixed by running dpkg --configure -a. This, in turn is bug 173309.
