inconsistant window handling

Places->Computer opens up a window with availble volumes (nfs, filesystem, etc)
a lmb click, will open the selected item in a new window, keeping the original
window. MMB click, will open up a new window, closing the old window. But when
you descend the next level, LMB click opens a new window, leaving the old
present, whilst MMB opens a new window, closing the old. This is a bit
disconcerting, shouldn't the behaviour be consisitant ?

This is on breezy and hoary both.

Top level, LMB opens new, retains old. MMB, opens new, replaces old.
Below that, LMB opens new, replaces old, MMB opens new, retains old.
