Bug Description

When launching Thunderbird for the first time after adding a Gmail account it begins to download mail. As it does this large emoji's are displayed on top of the email list (see screenshot).

Tested on Bionic daily image 27-03-18.

This Bug is fixed in Thunderbird 57.0b2 - Tested from Thunderbird PPA.

It's still a brutal rendering bug for usability. We shouldn't have to use a PPA for the rest of the beta cycle, the Ubuntu release packages need bug reports. If Canonical wants people to do proper testing, issues like this are a major hindrance. Giant emojis on top of my email make me take the beta out of my workflow. Otherwise it's looking fine, but really this is worth updating the current package for.

This bug still appears to be present in the released Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Still present in public release TB version 52.9.1 (64-bit). I have to say it is a surprise to see such an 'in your face' bug in the released version. Ubuntu 18.04
