Bug Description

I installed the AWN Clock/Calendar applet from http://wiki.awn-project.org/index.php?title=Clock/Calendar_Applet but when I reboot my computer either the settings for my Google Calendar integration need to be reentered or my settings for the calendar and clock color need to be reset, or in many cases, all settings have to be reentered.

I'm running version 0.2.1 of AWN, and I have version 0.17 of the applet (if I'm reading my downloaded file correctly).

I can confirm this behaviour. It often seems to lose its settings.

I can't reproduce this one. :(

Are either of you using non-Gnome desktop environments? I wonder if it has something to do with GConf not being supported? I haven't modified the applets to use malept's desktop-agnostic config stuff yet.

Reproducible in gnome and xfce. I always use gconf as the backend.

I think it's probably specific to the google calendar. I think it happens in my case because I need to start/stop awn quite often sometimes when I'm working on something. I suspected in the past that this sometimes causes too many login attempts over a short period of time... assuming it does a login each time on startup. Other than that I think I have also seen the behavior when my connection was a bit flaky.

Tried it now... setup the prefs. saved the password. It worked.

Close awn, start back up.

My appearance preferences seem to be lost... that's back to default. Which is not normal - it only happens if I've been trying to enable calendar.

Some console spam. includes:
Creating new applet :/usr/local/bin/../lib/awn/applets/standalone-launcher.desktop uid:-62914564_1203429261
Login error: <type 'exceptions.TypeError'> object of type 'NoneType' has no len()

which continues to spam... I don't normally see this spam so I'll assume it's from the clock :-)

It seems to be related to the save password feature. If I don't select that and let it popup a password prompt when I start the applet then all seems well... remembers my username and appearance preferences.

Hope this helps.

I''m definitely running it under Gnome, with Ubuntu Gutsy. I definitely think it may be at least partially a Google issue because I notice that every weekend I am getting an error that it couldn't connet with the data server. I'll try to remember toget more information this coming weekend to help you chase down the issues. Should I file that as a separate bug or include it here?

Under Gutsy/Gnome with 2.6 AWN/Extras, this happens as well. It remembers the visual settings it appears (or maybe mine are default?) but forgets GCal integration and appropriate settings.

Actually it's still forgetting the settings in the latest versions as well. If I don't have it remember my password it remembers the other settings, but if I check the Remember Password box I have found the hard way that at some point I"ll have to remind the Clock/Calendar applet how I want the settings.

If someone can give me an idea of what info they need to diagnose this I'd be more than willing to get the info together. This bug is a pain in the rear, especially since some of the load I put on my older, underpowered comp require frequent (at least daily) reboots which make me have to enter my Gcal pwd at least daily.

I can confirm on AWN 0.3.1 in XFCE and gnome with Google Calendar. My desktop seems to remember the visual settings, but my laptop forgets everything, everytime. Both running Ubuntu 8.04 with either XFCE or GNOME.

I'm "porting" it to use awnlib and Gtkbuilder.

Sorry, I have to give that up. I connected a branch which is an attempt to port to awnlib and GtkBuilder and probably solves the problems with forgotten settings.
