Bug Description

Binary package hint: context

The context package installs /usr/share/texmf/fonts/tfm/urw/garamond/texnansi-ugmr8a.tfm; however, attempting to use this font produces:

Installing context-nonfree didn't help.

Either the tfm file should not be installed, or it should be made usable (either in the context package or in the context-nonfree package, or in some other TeX-related package). It seems that the pfb files, for example (which are necessary to use this font) aren't installed by any gutsy package.

This still happens in intrepid :-(

Any old trivial source that tries to use one of the Garamond fonts will fail the same way For example:

----

\font\rm=ugmr8a at 12pt
\rm
\pdfoutput=1

This is a test.

\vfill\eject
\end

----

If one comments out the first line (so that it uses the default rm font) then it works fine.

This issue is almost three years old and it wasn't a bug.

URW Garamond is not included in TeXLive, since its license doesn't allow commercial distribution (http://www.latex-community.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=3778).

There is a command that solves this: "getnonfreefonts-sys -a" (or "getnonfreefonts -a" if you don't want system-wide modifications).

The issue should be closed (I have tagged it as invalid), but TeXLive should enable a way to display this info when a the users tries to deploy one of these fonts.

I hope it helps,

Pablo

According to my previous comment, there is a command that installs the font.

I'm closing the ConTeXt bug, since it is also invalid.
