Bug Description
Clean installing Hardy using Alternate CD for AMD64 results in error during 'Installing Base System'. Towards the end of 'Installing Base System', the screen goes red and an error box states that "linux-generic" could not be installed. Another dialog box is then displayed asking which kernel to install, giving three options: linux-generic, linux-image-

- Which version of the CD did you use (i.e. alpha-1 or daily)?
- As the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be corrupt, could you please visit [WWW] https:/
- If you have an older version of Ubuntu running on your system, can you provide information about your system by running the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report?
As the alpha-2 version will be released very soon, it would be helpful if you also can add results with the alpha-2 release to this bug report.
