Last.fm gives 'Handshake failed' error

In Rhythmbox 0.11.2 in Gutsy I enabled the Last.fm plugin. I didn't configure anything, since I don't have a Last.fm account. When I then open the Last.fm page in Rhythmbox, enter 'keane' in the 'Similar artists' field, and then click Play, I get a 'Handshake error' and a 'Couldn't start playback' messagebox. Result: it doesn't work.

On the Last.fm website I can play songs without an account, so I don't think an account is necessary for this functionality. If it nevertheless is, it should be mentioned when enabling the plugin.

Step-by-step to reproduce:
I) Start Rhythmbox 0.11.2
II) Enable the Last.fm plugin (but leave the username/password blank)
III) In the Last.fm page enter 'keane' in the 'Similar artists' field and click Play.
IV) An error should occur - either with or without a pop-up message. Either way, no sound is playing.
The pop-up reads:
"Couldn't start playback
Problem occurred without error being set. This is a bug in Rhythmbox or GStreamer."

I couldn't reproduce this issue using rhythmbox 0.11.3 from Hardy Heron, i can listen to "Similar artist" without having last.fm plugin configured, just activated, does this happen to you every time, even with a new account?.

I created a new account and logged in to test it. However, I still get
the handshake error and the 'Couldn't start playback' message. This is
on a clean profile with Rhythmbox 0.11.2.

Can you tell me which plugins are needed to play Last.fm music?

I have the same problem in Hardy.
with and without an account I get "Handshake failed" in the status bar.

I added the repositories mentioned in the blog. Then the update manager found an update for Rhythmbox.
So, I updated Rhythmbox and the problem went away. However, it still says version 0.11.4
I did not need to use the new plugin for last.fm mentioned on the blog.
