Bug Description

Trying to install the last lubuntu 18.04 (including kernel v4.15) from an iso downloaded from ubuntu cdimage lubuntu daily-live 20180222.1, the install failed at the end of the procedure. The following steps were ok:
- select install
- select the language
- connecting my network
- select the keyboard
- select to override the previous install (was xubuntu 17.10)
(I made as well an install selecting "other" and formatting by hand the HD and making a new partition table)
- select the timezone
- give the info regarding user, hostname and password
- then the process continued the install, copying files and so on until it failed with a huge popup windows due to the failure.
- I was asked to send automatic info, I did it.
NB: currently, I can only write in this bug report, the info I remember. As the installation failed, I can't open any terminal to get detailed info from a system command or from any log.

Update of lubuntu-18.04 (and ubuntu-mate-18.04)from kernel 4.13.0-36 to kernel 4.15.0-10:
boot fails:

Boot stops shortly after the boot screen appears, then screen becomes black. Afterwards, the system tries several times to come up with the boot screen again, but never succeeds; then stops completely.

No such problems with mainline builds 4.15.4 and 4.15.5.

Probably related to bug #1751139?

Volker,

Thanks a lot for your help.
Following this issue, I installed Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel 4.15 and it
started correctly.
I will try again Lubuntu later with a kernel >= 4.15.5.

Best regards,
Patrick ANDRE
