Bug Description

I start up my Ubuntu 16.04 machine and immediately after loginning in to the GUI I get a crash report about the hub-service. Often this is followed by one or two other reports but not today.

Today I followed the instructions on: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs
`enabled=1` was already set in /etc/default/apport but I had not set `# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],` in /etc/apport/crashdb.conf until this morning. This had the effect of a bug report appearing to be sent in the background but no launchpad page opening. After setting both of the above I did `ubuntu-bug hud` on the command line to generate this report.

This PC was a fresh install a few months ago. As far as I can recall it has been generating the crash report message for most of that time.

It would be nice if I could at least silence the error. Ideally I would like to fix the issue.

Seems simple enough to recreate this each time I restart the machine.

Occurred again today. New report raised at +bug1756839

I raised a new report as this bug seems to happen as a pair with another bug. The original pair that went with this bug (+bug1753393) asked me to raise a new bug to see if better diagnostics were included. I have done so and created +bug1756835. +bug1756839 is the new copy of this bug, created from the same login as +bug1756835

Happened again today. Raised #1760792 this morning to see if the trace will work. If it does not I shall try adding more -dev packages to see if the backtrace can be brought about.

Target machins is Ubuntu 16.04:

Linux scadauser-NP3020M3 4.13.0-36-generic #40~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 16 23:25:58 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

This problem also affected me after a new qt installation ( I only copied the lib, plugins, qml into target machine's /usr/local/qt5.7 ).

Tring to start hud-service:
./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/hud/hud-service
Repoted an error like:
... load the Qt platform plugin "minimal"...

But my applicatins started normally.
This was due to the "qt.conf", I copied my qt.conf to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/hud/ and the problem was resolved.

qt.conf:
======================
[Paths]
Prefix=/usr/local/qt5.7
Binaries=bin
Libraries=lib
Plugins=plugins
Imports=imports
Qml2Imports=qml
