live boot fails (login) version 17.10.1

I am attempting my go at my first live disk (do be used to load ubuntu on a win box.
The problem i am having is that the login box never appears. Looking at the log reveals that the login is in a loop. it gets started, fails and trys to start again.

Help!

sorry for not being clearer. I am running a torrent downloaded (checksums verified) of
ubuntu-17.10.1-desktop-amd64.

Now i have to figure out what you are talking about with the package stuff.... remember this is a live disk.
