Carl, I just found that there is anonther place which could invoke the browse dialog. If you happen to download a file which could not be opened by any registered application, browser will pop up a dialog to ask user choose an application, and the browser dialog will come out by clicking the choose button.

Fan,

We will have to leave this one alone. This is the only way the user can select an application to deal with the downloaded content that is not a recognized type. If we allow them to download the file, we should give the user a way to handle it. In this case, the browse dialog is the obvious way to deal with it.

If you agree with it, please mark this as fixed and close it. If you dont agree with it, we can discuss this in the enigneering meeting.

And btw, this bug was orignally filed against the preference dialogs only, not the download dialog.

Thanks,
Carl

Carl,

Agree with you and I will verify this bug, and it's good that we make sure all supported common MIME types have been registered to an installed application in default.list file, so that user will have not to choose an application themselves in most cases.
