This bug may be related to another one about respecting
Gnome preferences. It turns out I had two browsers
open, and later found the Preferences dialog was actually
open and hiding behind the other browser window
(on another Desktop in fact).

The previous version (re Ubuntu package upgrade) always
displayed this menu on top of the browser for which
the menu item was invoked, it appeared to me as
if the dialog wasn't being opened. But it was, just
not where I was used to it turning up.

So I am guessing this problem should be coalesced with
the similar bug report about Gnome preferences.
With only one browser open, the dialog does appear
as expected.
