Bug Description

[Test case]
1. Ubuntu 16.04, boot to desktop
2. Turn on "Auto-hide the Launcher" from System Settings -> Appearance -> Behavior
3. Choose reveal location as Left side
4. Adjust the reveal sensitivity to High
5. Try to move the pointer to the defined hot spot(left side) with different pointer moving speed

[Observation]
If moving the pointer to the defined hot spot(left side) with low or regular pointer moving speed, the launcher won't reveal. To see the launcher reveal, we have to move the pointer to the defined hot spot with high pointer moving speed. Sometimes even high moving speed doesn't seem to make the launcher reveal.

[Note]
1. Also see the same symptom if choose reveal location as Top left corner.

Mh, such values are quite hard to define depending on hardware in use (for example a touchpad could be slower than a regular mouse or a trackpoint)...

However, you can also tune those settings using CCSM. By installing compiz config settings manager you can change many values under the Launcher tab of the unityshell plugin options.

I was also able to reproduce it on 17.10 _on metal_.

For some reason the launcher hides for good and I was not able to display it again on VM (Virtualbox).

For me it works well. Also default values are selected carefully so that user need to apply little bit of pressure with pointer to reveal the launcher. Otherwise it may reveal accidentally, for example when you try to copy text from left most side of full-screen application.
