Bug Description

Please backport spectre-meltdown-checker 0.29-1 (universe) from bionic to artful.

Reason for the backport:
========================
In light of the recent Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities, it would be a really good idea to have a tool in the archive which allows for checking if these vulnerabilities are patched.

Testing:
========
Mark off items in the checklist [X] as you test them, but please leave the checklist so that backporters can quickly evaluate the state of testing.

You can test-build the backport in your PPA with backportpackage:
$ backportpackage -u ppa:tsimonq2/backports -s bionic -d artful spectre-meltdown-checker
(which I have done, and it works fine with)

* artful:
[x] Package builds without modification
[x] spectre-meltdown-checker installs cleanly and runs

No reverse dependencies

Cheers - looks like a new version (0.31) was just uploaded to unstable. Should we wait a minute for that to sync + migrate and backport that one instead? (If so, would you mind testing that one too please?)

Sure.

wxl pointed out that backporting to Xenial and Trusty may not be a bad idea either, so I'll backport 0.31 to all three of those and test them.

Thanks Iain!
