Bug Description

# ls -l /etc/adduser.conf

gio: No locations given

Usage:
  gio monitor [OPTION…] [LOCATION...]

Monitor files or directories for changes.

Options:
  -d, --dir=LOCATION Monitor a directory (default: depends on type)
  -f, --file=LOCATION Monitor a file (default: depends on type)
  -D, --direct=LOCATION Monitor a file directly (notices changes made via hardlinks)
  -s, --silent=LOCATION Monitors a file directly, but doesn’t report changes
  -n, --no-moves Report moves and renames as simple deleted/created events
  -m, --mounts Watch for mount events

I can confirm that it does not work in ubuntu 17.10, but does work in Fedora 27 (which has glib 2.54.3 http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/glib/2.54/glib-2.54.3.news)

Thank you for your bug report, indeed that's an upstream bug which was fixed after .1 but before .3. The fix is in the current bionic version
