Looks like a duplicate of bug 1713638. So you might have better luck installing 'bcmwl' instead of 'broadcom-sta'.

I installed according to a bug fix posted elsewhere to get my WiFi going on my Toshiba Satellite to work, which it does now. It never worked before the patch with 16.04 LTS.
