Cannot add that information because if I load kernel 4.13.0-24 I do not have wifi and cannot log to this page. I have to do it with the previous kernel 4.13.0-22 to place the bug

Hello,
you can collect the report offline with the following command in a terminal:
apport-bug --save /tmp/wifi.apport linux

And upload to here with:
apport-cli -u 1741946 -c /tmp/wifi.apport

Thanks

cannot upload as you suggest:

mfg@bix:~$ apport-cli -u 1741946 -c /home/mfg/tmp/wifi.apport
Usage: apport-cli [options] [symptom|pid|package|program path|.apport/.crash file]

apport-cli: error: -u/--update-bug option cannot be used together with options for a new report

however, I attach the produced report which I created in a place where it was not erased after rebooting

also may help the folllowing:

I have the same issue on a Dell XPS-13-9343, with exactly the same Broadcom chip. Just like the OP, it does not work on 4.13.0-24 - it can't seem to find the Wifi. But works just fine on 4.13.0-22.

This is from my kernel on 4.13.0-22.

Hello,
thanks for the feedback.

I have tested on one Dell laptop (with Artful image + the latest kernel 4.13.0-25) which has the same chip:
02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Limited BCM4352 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:43b1] (rev 03)

It looks like you will need to install the broadcom driver to make it work:
sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source

or
sudo ubuntu-driver autoinstall

I can't get it work without the driver even with older kernel (4.13.0-21, can't find 4.13.0-22 in the archive)

Please give the driver a try, thanks.

Peter Wishart (peter-wishart) wrote :

I was already using that driver. I just tried on 4.13.0-24 again and got:
bcmwl-kernel-source is already the newest version (6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu3).
0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 0 not to upgrade.
And it still didn't work.

But I saw that 4.13.0-25 was available. So I loaded that and now things are working again.

So the issue appears fixed for me in 4.13.0-25.

Many thanks

Thanks, Peter

manuel fernandez, can you try to update your kernel and install the bcmwl-kernel-source package?
