Bug Description

system-config-samba was never uploaded to Debian and is unmaintained in Ubuntu.

The Ubuntu bugs reported for system-config-samba are concerning.

I came across this package because it build-depends on rarian (which we're removing) and depends on python-glade2 (which will be removed soon-ish).

I was going to file a bug because system-config-samba still uses the deprecated gksu on Bionic, but... nevermind.

It was also abandoned in Fedora which I believe was its upstream.

Hi,

So what is now the friendly solution for managing samba users and samba shares ?

This one was just enough, relatively simple but with samba users management.

HellooOoo…

removing a package without replacing its features by something else is NOT a fix.

It's just a feature removal.

I agree with Coeur Noir. basically we are left with nothing as neither system config samba nor Gadmin-Samba are a viable option any more.

It would be really great if someone in the community could come forward with a real fix.
