Bug Description

When I try to submit a bug for a GNOME-related issue and Launchpad sees it should go to the GNOME Bug Tracking system, Launchpad wants me to go to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/, but that is not always the case in reality of where I am supposed to go.

___
For example, when I want to report an issue or bug with the Nautilus file manager, the GNOME development team handles these bugs and reports using their Gitlab community account instead of their legacy Bugzilla here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/Nautilus

In addition, this is what I get when I try to mark a Gitlab post as a Bug Tracker link in Launchpad:
"(-)Launchpad does not recognize the bug tracker at this URL."

This is becoming even more of a persistent issue now. According to Carlos Soriano on the Gnome Desktop Development [Mailing] List, it's been proposed migrating the entire bug tracking system over to Gitlab: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2018-March/msg00023.html

Even if Gnome decides to go against the mass migration to Gitlab, many project bug trackers within the Gnome community are hosted within Gitlab anyways, and those links are not supported for some reason in Launchpad as valid bug tracker URLs/IDs.

     Canonical, please update Launchpad.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. I am marking this bug a duplicate of bug 1745210 since that bug has been better triaged (maybe the bug title was a bit more clear for what the Launchpad developers were looking for).

Unfortunately, the people best able to work on this issue are also really busy with other important projects, so it may take some time for the issue to get prioritized enough to get fixed.

Hi Jeremy, apologies I did not see your full response before I switched the 'Duplicate' tag. :-(
I assumed this one would better serve as the main bug because it dates back the oldest.

The main bulk of the work involved is described in bug 1603679. (But please don't mark this one as a duplicate of that for now, as I don't know whether there'll be anything special involved in supporting the GNOME instance.)

I was trying to change Remote watch for bug 726439 from bugzilla ( https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=652057 ) to Gitlab ( https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/yelp/issues/52 ).
And got the following error message "There is 1 error in the data you entered. Please fix it and try again.".

Please activate remote watching for GitLab issue trackers. This would be very helpful for GNOME (but not only them) and Ubuntu.

Still not fixed. It is strange as you ship GNOME as default desktop.
