Appstream data points to libreoffice-common

Bug Description

Searching for Libreoffice in a software centre which uses Appstream data (most of them) brings up Libreoffice but install libreoffice-common. This is because it contains libreoffice-startcenter.desktop which gets extracted into the DEP-11 data. libreoffice-common doesn't depend on anything useful so the user does not end up with a useful libreoffice install. It would be better to move this libreoffice-startcenter.desktop file into the libreoffice meta package.

Please forgive me, but I am not quite clear whether this bug report suggests that the startcenter desktop should no longer exist or not, or whether it should just be in a different package.

I am a libreoffice user, and like to keep up to date with changes and fixes, and am on:

Version: 6.0.3.1
Build ID: 1:6.0.3~rc1-0ubuntu0.17.10.1
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: GL; VCL: gtk2;
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); Calc: grou

Having just updated to this from 6.0.2 I no longer have a startcenter desktop. This is a nuisance, to say the least. I have constructed one for myself, but users surely should not have to do so.

I do totally agree with Tim comment.
The startdesktop is an essential feature of libreoffice suite. For example, it is the best user-friendly interface to choose a template or to open a recent document, using the big preview window.
If it is placed in libreoffice-common or libeoffice meta package is not relevant; it needs to be somewhere.
It was previously in libreoffice-common as does xsltfilter. I don't understand what has changed to justify such discussion.

This is just mirroring the debian packaging. Perhaps this is a bit drastic, though.

If you look at libreoffice-common_6.0.3-1_all.deb from packages.debian.org, it contains /usr/share/applications/libreofice-startcenter.desktop.
Why is the version on launchpad different ?

According to https://wiki.debian.org/AppStream/Guidelines#How_to_exclude_.desktop_files_from_the_metadata, all that's needed to fix this bug is to add the following entry to libreoffice-startcenter.desktop:

    X-AppStream-Ignore=True

This change is in the 6.1.0 experimental branch on debian, not in the 6.0 branch.

Thank you Olivier.
Remark #8 seems to be OK.
Hope this correction in next update.

1:6.0.3-0ubuntu1 is now in bionic, it should have libreoffice-startcenter.desktop back.
