I suppose that you have sensors on your machine.

Have you modprobed all the involved kernel modules?
You could configure through:
sudo sensors-detect

If you did so, and although it doesn't work, try to paste here the output of the command:
sudo sensors -s

sorry, only :
sensors ( or sudo sensor ),
without -s option.

Yeah, i have lm-sensors installed..do you think there is a conflict?
I had configured it now, but xsensors doesn't work.

This i what i get:

root@blackdiamond-desktop:~# sensors
k8temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter
Core0 Temp:
             +36°C

Btw i remember that i used all both programs in my old pc and there were no conflicts..

This is instead what i get launching xsensors from terminal:
root@blackdiamond-desktop:~# xsensors
Sensor 'k8temp' not supported by xsensors!

So this is the reason for that problem?

yes, it seem so. :D

Could you change the subject to a more specific one? ( like "k8temp not supported by xsensors <version>")
Thanks. ;)

Oh man, i restart the pc now and it works!!
i always obtain the error message: "root@blackdiamond-desktop:~# xsensors
Sensor 'k8temp' not supported by xsensors!"

but the tools now works, is open!!!
so, is this a bug?

Very odd. I see exactly the behaviour reported here. I have:

1. Installed xsensors
2. Run `xsensors-detect` and allowed it to update /etc/modules (it has added it87 and k8temp modules)
3. Rebooted
4. (In case it made any difference) Ran `sensors -s`

It looks as if xsensors has broken relatively recently, there are quite a lot of messages about this problem. Unfortunately I don't see any way to reopen the bug.

Further investigation. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10, up to date with patches.

The following modules were added (in order) by xsensors-detect: it87, k8temp
`lsmod` fails to detect it87, and running `modprobe it87` produces the message:

FATAL: Error inserting it87 (/lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/kernel/drivers/hwmon/it87.ko): Device or resource busy

Running `sensors` only reports two sensors, acpitz-virtual-0 and k8temp-pci-00c3

Finally, running `xsensors` produces the error message
Sensor 'k8temp' not supported by xsensors!
and an empty window titled "xsensors 0.50".

Hmm. It looks like this must be bug #73405, allegedly fixed (presumably upstream, as yet...)
