Bug Description

In Artful if the standard clock applet is used there is a dead-space to the left of it. In my first screenshot you can see the dead-space between the indicator-applet and the clock applet. In the second screenshot you can see I've moved the clock applet to the left and the same dead-space exists between it and the inhibit-applet.

This can happen when you enable “Show weather” in preferences but the weather information failed loading for some reason. Can you try disabling showing the weather?

I think I know where is the problem, but I have no time to test / confirm it... If there is no response from me after 1. June then please open upstream bug when all GNOME modules will be migrated to gitlab.

Sorry to take so long getting back to this. Disabling "show weather" and "show temp" helps reduce that dead space but it must be done after each boot or reboot because the settings don't "stick".

---------------
gnome-panel (1:3.30.0-1ubuntu1) cosmic; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable, remaining changes:
    - debian/changelog:
+ Use an epoch in version number.
    - debian/control.in:
      + Recommend indicator-applet-complete.
+ Adjust Breaks for Ubuntu versioning.
      + Use Ubuntu VCS fields.
    - debian/rules:
+ Explicitly build without -Bsymbolic-functions flag.
    - debian/patches/40_unset_menuproxy.patch:
+ Make sure panel and applets do not pick up menu proxies.
    - debian/patches/41_classic_layout.patch:
+ Replace clock and notification area with indicators.
  * The new release fixes oversized clock applet (LP: #1737836).
  * Drop fallback_css.diff, applied in the new release.
  * Refresh debian/patches/40_unset_menuproxy.patch.

Will we be able to push a patch into gnome-panel 1:3.26 in Bionic since it's an LTS supported until 2023?
