Bug Description
After installing Ubuntu 17.10 and updating I then tried to install discord from the gnome software tool
When i did this i got the error
"Unable to install Discord Failed to read from snapd: Error receiving data: Connection reset by peer"
On IRC it was recommended i report this bug and i was given a workaround
sudo snap install gnome-3-26-1604
sudo snap install discord
This installed discord but then my gnome-software was showing it as installable still, but unable to install
I then removed it with
sudo snap remove discord
Then i was able to install it correctly using gnome software and now it knows it is installed
Some other notes:
<gluon> it's not a bug, it's the way snappy works right now
<gluon> it doesn't automatically install that gnome dep
<nacc> gluon: it's *definitely* a bug that the software center cannot install something, IMO
<gluon> and then gnome software fails
<nacc> gluon: it's a bug in gnome software -- they can choose not to fix it, but it's still a bug :)
<gluon> nacc: yeah, fair enough, but it's related to snappy
<gluon> right
<nacc> gluon: yeah, i imagine it is :)
<nacc> gluon: i'd just rather it get documented, if it's nont already
<gluon> it's definitely unexpected beahaviour at least
<nacc> (bug = documentation, in this case)
<gluon> perhaps gnome-software on ubuntu should be aware of this and pull the gnome dep using snap, before installing any snaps that depend on it
<gluon> or maybe snappy should do it automatically
<nacc> gluon: this is just that snapd can't resolve the interfaces needed by a snap
<nacc> gluon: resolve = install them as deps
<gluon> not even on the command line
<gluon> i'm not sure that's by design or still a lacking feature
gluon> but i shall investigate
