Bug Description

Google Drive now support Team Drives. It would be nice if duplicity would supports Team Drives as a backend.

PyDrive now supports Team Drives (https://github.com/gsuitedevs/PyDrive/pull/111). This means adding support for Team Drives should be pretty straight forward.

The only problem, I've looked at the PyDrive's backend code, and it parses the backend URL relative to what if figures out to be the root. This codes will always take the root of the regular drive. So in order to support Team Drives one has to specify somehow (an environment variable?) the id of the root directory of the requested Team Drive.

I'll gladly do it myself if someone else thinks too that passing the ID via an environment variable is a good idea.

I too am looking for the implementation of this backend. It's been more than a year. Is there any hope it can be looked into?
I can help test if needed.

Guy,

My gut feel is that an environment variable doesn't fit too well with the way we do other things, but I'm no expert at the backends. If you're still keen to help, I would suggest posting to the mailing list.

@Kenneth-Loafman, will the team drive (now called: shared drive) support be added at all?
I would really like to know just a timeline or status for this.

Sorry, I need someone to step up and handle this. I don't have the time right now.

Hi,

I wanted to take a second look at it, however it seems like PyDrive is an abandoned project. The last release was more than 3 years ago. The pull-request adding support for Shared Drives has been merged to master but wasn't released. I'm not sure if we want to add support to Shared Drive that will require installing PyDrive directly from git.
