Why not simply sync the package? I tried building the unmodified package from Debian in a hardy pbuilder (amd64) and it builds successfully.

BTW: your changelog mentions xlibs-dev but your changes to debian/control don't show it.

Michael -

Thanks for your review and comments. I did not try doing a sync, actually. I saw this pending merge on MOM and the changes that needed to be merged in debian/control. The debian package does not include Build-Depends for x11proto-xext-dev and libxt-dev and I see from the changelog that they were needed for the xorg transition so perhaps they are not needed anymore.

And thanks for pointing out that bug in my debian/control. I should have stated in the changelog that xlibs-dev was being removed, not x11libs-dev. I have made that change but perhaps it's not needed if we do a sync.

I can confirm that the Debian unstable package builds in a hardy pbuilder on i386 and runs fine.

Should I close this bug and open a new one for a sync?

Either that or reuse this bug and turn it into a sync request (change the bug title, add the needed information for a sync request, etc.). This way the "history" why it's a sync and not a merge isn't lost.

Ok, I will reuse this bug and turn it into a sync request. I have read the documentation on the MOTU pages about syncs and am a little unclear on what I need to document here, but I will stop in #ubuntu-motu and ask. Thanks!

This package was previously merged but it can now be synced from Debian unstable (main).

Rationale:

The prior Ubuntu changes were as follows:

* Add Build-depends for xorg transition: x11proto-xext-dev, libxt-dev
* Add libxext-dev to Build-Depends

The first two Build-Depends additions, x11-proto-xext-dev and libxt-dev were included for the xorg transition. The xorg transition is now complete and these packages are no longer necessary as far as I can tell. The other Ubuntu Build-Depends addition for libxext-dev was merged into Debain by the Debian QA Group in its last update to the package.

The only other change that still might be needed is XSBC-Original-Maintainer: Debian QA Group <email address hidden> but perhaps this is handled automatically by the sync process (this is my first sync).

I can verify that the Debian unstable (main) package builds and runs fine in a Hardy pbuilder environment.

Thanks to geser for the help.

The XSBC-Original-Maintainer value is only needed when there are Ubuntu changes for the package. As after a sync there aren't any changes anymore, the XSBC-Original-Maintainer field isn't needed (till the next Ubuntu changes).
