Bug Description
I use Ubuntu 17.10 and the following repositories
deb http://
deb http://
apt-cache show libgps22-dbgsym
Package: libgps22-dbgsym
Architecture: amd64
Version: 3.16-4
Multi-Arch: same
Priority: extra
Section: libs
Source: gpsd
Maintainer: Bernd Zeimetz <email address hidden>
Installed-Size: 2
Depends: gpsd-dbg (= 3.16-4)
Filename: pool/universe/
Size: 1022
MD5sum: 1d37112d2fd16e2
SHA1: 92f43bca66882fb
SHA256: 032a16623ed8ce8
SHA512: 3378006b5af6527
I see this after executing "apt-get download libgps22-dbgsym":
a file libgps22-
dpkg -c libgps22-
drwxrwxr-x root/root 0 2016-11-04 23:35 ./
I would like it to contain the debug symbols for libgps.so
I would like the automated tools to not create empty debug packages

After checking the gpsd source page, all generated dbgsym's seem to be empty
