Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 17.10
Release: 17.10

gnome-shell 3.26.1-0ubuntu5 amd64
indicator-multiload 0.4-0ubuntu5 amd64

I logged in (gdm3/wayland), tapped Meta, started typing "load" and selected "System Load Indicator" expecting to see a system load indicator appear.

Instead, the session immediately exits and I am back at the gdm login screen.
Logging in again is then not possible (any new gnome session immediately exits) until I SSH in and delete the file $HOME/.config/autostart/indicator-multiload.desktop

Debug:

I uncommented Enable=true under [debug] in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf, logged in again, and reproduced from gnome-terminal by running "indicator-multiload". I captured the following from journalctl:
