Different effects on zooming terminal in horizonal and verticat splits

Bug Description
A:
1. Split screen horizontally
2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Z (zooming terminal)
Effect - current view expanded to window area and font is unchanged
B:
1. Split screen horizontally
2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Z (zooming terminal)
Effect - current view expanded to window area, number of columns unchanged (equals to previous view size) and font is zoomed. No extra space like in variant "A"

Your A1 and B1 are the same norizontal split command. You haven't attached screenshots, so I can't see what you're seeing to understand your problem. In both those cases (A & B) there should be minimal (if any) zooming. You really need three panes to (Ctrl-O, Ctrl-E, Ctrl-O, Zoom) before you really start seeing the impact.
The technical detail is that Terminator takes the minimum of the (new cols/old cols) and (new rows/old rows), and that becomes the "scaling factor". There's a little fudge factor in there too, but that's the essence of it.
