Thank you for your bug report. What sort of corruption are you talking about? I don't see anything wrong in the user_1002.png image

Desktops for users 1002 and 1003 are corrupted with some sort of XFCE type of theme.

Users admin (installer) and 1001 have the correct theme.

This bug has never happened before in any release of Ubuntu.

The adduser command was used to create 1001, 1002 and 1003.

Could you point to which part, maybe do a red circle around one of them using an image editor or something?

Have you looked at the screenshots?

user 1002
- missing left vertical gnome launcher
- file manager theme is COMPLETELY different from the correct 1001

Could you open the session selector on the login screen for 1002 and see what session is selected? it looks like a GNOME session without dock and with the GNOME theme

My test machine that had 17.10 has been overwritten with 18.04 beta.

Are these machines working now or do you have the same issues? The desktop of 1002 looks like the GNOME session as Sebastien says (on the login screen click your name then the cog in the bottom-right to see what session is being used) - this has different default settings for the theme etc which is why it looks completely different! I think the 1001 desktop's left dock is probably moved upwards by Docky? Would this potentially be a bug in Docky or the Ubuntu Dock (gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock)?

As per comment #9, I can no longer test this issue.

If you can reproduce this bug report by changing login options and then "fix" by changing those options back, then please close this case.

Otherwise, wait for others to trip over this "bug" and enlist their help.

Marking this Invalid for now because I'm going to assume that the session switcher was working as intended. Why did your upgrade to 18.04 change this though?

Not upgrade, fresh install as per best practices.
