It takes a while for the tray notification menu to open when clicking on the time and date in the top bar

Bug Description

Dear all,

Once I click on the time and date entry in the top bar, it takes a couple of seconds for the menu to open [1].

Tested on Ubuntu 17.10 with the latest updates installed.

Not sure if this is a bug or user error.

Ubuntu 17.10 (artful) reached end-of-life on July 19, 2018.
