Two-sided printing problem in libgnomeprint

Bug Description

All the programs that use libgnomeprint printing dialog fails do give me two-side printing capability. In the two-sided option drop down list, only one option is available: One-sided, but my printer has the duplex option enabled (Kyocera C5015n network printer).

Duplex printing in programs that do not use libgnomeprint works fine like openoffice.

Can you open the printer setup tool (system-config-printer, gnome-cups-manager, CUPS web interface http://localhost:631/) and check the option settings? In a group "Installable options" there should be an option to tell whether you have a duplex unit installed. Set this to "Yes" or "Installed" and then all printing dialogs should allow you to print duplex.

Please tell here whether this solves your problem.

Yes, I have already done so as Openoffice already gives me that option from the driver settings. I have selected the option: "Duplex Unit". The print dialog does not reflect this change in the Two-sided option and only gives me One-side.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I think you guys are being a little too nonchalant about this. This is a real problem. 1) This problem is widely mentioned in various Ubuntu forums, e.g. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=511045 or http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-511045.html or http://ubuntu-ky.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8911603 or dozens of others. 2) I also confirmed it on my Ubuntu 9.04 64bit. Specifically, after enabling duplex printing in CUPS, I can print double sided from Open Office 3.0.1. and Acrobat Reader 9.3.1 (as installed from the Canonical repositories), but not from Evince 2.26.1. I think we need to look at this more carefully - as it stands, anyone who wants to print PDFs two sided has to install Adobe's software - not sure that this is the message that you want to convey to the community...
