Qt5 applications have no icons

Bug Description
If you install a Qt5 application, say, kate, on a default Ubuntu system, it will have no icons. This is because no platform theme is set (QT_QPA_
I'm not sure what the proper solution to this problem is, but one option would be Ubuntu installing e.g. the gtk2 QPA as a default dependency of Qt5 apps, and selecting it as the QPA to be used. The qt5ct tool would be another option.
Alternatively, the problem can be blamed on Qt of course, but it's not super obvious how to solve it on their side either ...
