Bug Description

Hi all,

The discussion started here:

https://community.ubuntu.com/t/show-the-number-on-the-sidebar-icons-when-just-holding-super-key/426/5?u=orschiro

Basically, you press Super + Number key to open a specific app from the sidebar which position corresponds to the number you pressed.

Then you get to see this useful number on the icon.

The suggestion would be to show this number prior to opening the application.

I tried to to describe this situation in this video:

I'm fairly certain that this behavior did change at some point in the 17.10 process -- I believe that I used to be able to long-press the Super key and have the numbers show up.

That being said, it should also be noted that after selecting an app, the numbers don't go away again until you press Super once more and exit from the resulting screen or press Escape.

For more information, I opened an bug with GNOME on this some time ago: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=788159

Also, for reference, you can bring up the numbers by pressing Super+Q.
