I was upgrading aspell-en 2017.08.24-0-0.1 when the wayland session has first freezed, then got kicked out back to the login screen.

This looks like essentially the same crash as bug 1714989.

Aspell-en can be reinstalled into a terminal without getting warning/error nor gnome-shell crashing. So the problem may then came from the ubuntu-theme & likes also installed at the same time.
