Bug Description

Debian 9 was released more than 3 months ago, and no hplip 3.17.x version supports it yet. Did someone forget to test hplip on Debian 9 ? I tried a couple different 3.17.x .run installs and they all failed. When will debian 9 be supported on the hplip ?

I've found this related question: https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/452076.
it seems that the main problem is that the installer points at two "obsolete" packages, pyqt4-dbus and pyqt4, that know are called python-qt4-dbus and python-qt4. the solution cited in the link is to rewrite the code so the new version works. Accordingly to the author of the solution, this was working fine with debian 8.8. I don't know if it's still valid for 9.1 (i've tried to, but every time I try to run hplip-3.17.9.run it rewrite every file...).

hplip 3.17.11 and 3.18.3 do not work with Debian 9 AGAIN. What the fuck is wrong with you people?
hplip 3.17.10 works...

The same shit all over, get serious:
error: A required dependency 'pyqt4-dbus (PyQt 4 DBus - DBus Support for PyQt4)' is still missing.
error: A required dependency 'pyqt4 (PyQt 4- Qt interface for Python (for Qt version 4.x))' is still missing.

There is no "bug reopened" status on launchpad, how come?

To be more precise, the OS is Debian 9.3, not 9.0 or 9.1
