I'm the debian maintainer of the package and i'm preparing a fix for oldstable (will ask for upload on jessie-pu during this week), that would work for xenial too.

But the fixed packages is also present on jessie-backports and stretch or later.

If you inly want to backport small changes to xenial, you should use the jessie-pu package i'm preparing, if that's not a problem, you can pick the package present on jessie-bpo or stretch.
