Playing videos has scrambled colours in various applications, but not all applications, both with xorg and wayland

Bug Description

I am trying to play various videos using totem, and editing using kdenlive. In both cases, the video (which is dominated by the yellow colour) is displayed as purple. With mplayer and vlc the problem does not manifest. The problem appears both under wayland and under xorg sessions in ubuntu 17.10 whereas it didn't appear in 17.04.

[EDIT:]

I do not know to which source package to assign the bug. I suspect kernel or video drivers, but need help in understanding how to discern between the two, and what additional information may be needed. I hope someone will triage the bug.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1717481/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
