Bug Description
It would be nice if there will be possibility to simply put text on path so
it is adapted to path lenght. Text can be adapted by simply stretching in
vertical dimension, stretching in both dimensions or even by extending
spaces between letters. For my purposes it would be sufficient first or
third method.
Use case:
1. Draw a cicle and convert it to path.
2. Draw some text which length is shorter/longer than circle's perimeter.
3. Select both objects.
3. Hit button "Put on Path (Stretched)" in "Text" menu so text is puted on
path and forming whole circle.

I agree, this feature would really save time.
It would be useful to make short lines of text have the same length of longer ones increasing automatically adjusting letter spacing.
I'd really need it as I use Inkscape for layouting purposes and to get that effect I have to convert text to path, then separate it and combine again each glyph on its own to use alignment tools. Pretty annoying, mainly if text is long and/or I have to edit text later.
