Bug Description

What I did: 1. Accessed Muon from Plasma's Program Menu (was not asked for root password). 2. Searched for a package to install and checked it for install. 3. Clicked "Apply" in the toolbar 4. This works fine in the daily build for me and my running install of artful.

The message will be displayed if you do not complete an authorisation dialogue when it is show, and it times out. Perhaps you have a window manger rule/placement setting etc, so the authorisation box was there, but you did not see it (obscured/elsewhere etc)?

I can't replicate this on my system and can only assume that the authentication window is not being displayed or becoming focused to the front of the active windows.

I have sub'ed the maintainer of the program to this report, maybe he will know what could be causing it to do that.

Sorry, but I have no idea. A similar bug was reported some time ago by Rick Mills https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382611 in Neon and Artful, but I cannot reproduce it.

The authentication is handled by PolicyKit (PolkitQt1). It has it's own configuration on how to authenticate and authorize the user. But as it has already been said, it is more likely that the authentication window is just hidden behind something else. After a little time the authentication window expires and the error message is shown.

I can, even now on that bug. I seem to recall Harald Sitter commenting
on a possible cause, but that clearly did not reach the KDE bug if so.

On this bug, I cannot reproduce, so I suspect they are superficially
similar, but maybe really distinct.

Upon a reinstall, this bug no longer occurs (I am the original bug reporter). I'm not sure what caused it.
