Bug Description

When creating a new text in Inkscape, and when writing some Arabic letters or words in the text, and then after hitting the Enter key to create a new line, Inkscape just crashes.

The terminal output is limited:

Emergency save activated!
Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it.
Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

After that, I can't even open the backup file (which contains the Arabic text and a new line). It just crashes again. I tried opening other SVG files which do contain Arabic text with new lines, it also crashed.

This didn't exist in older versions.

I am using Inkscape 0.92.1-4.20170510bzr15686.fc26 on Fedora 26.

I have just tried to download the latest version from Inkscape website and install it. It works great. This bug doesn't exist in that version.

Oops, this bug doesn't appear to be fixed in 1.0alpha

So this should not be Fix Released.

Anyway, as part of the bug migration, noting that this bug is duplicated in the new gitlab issue: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/issues/72

Changed in inkscape:
status: New → Fix Released
Changed in inkscape:
status: Fix Released → Invalid
