Bug Description

GNU PSPP was removed from debian testing because it did not compile with gcc7. We made a release 1.0.1 which is currently in debian unstable.

I guess pspp is not in the list of packages for Ubuntu artful because it was not in debian testing at the time of feature freeze for artful. Please add the debian package pspp 1.0.1 to artful.

See: https://packages.qa.debian.org/p/pspp.html

I looked up the publishing history for this package and found that it was removed due to the FTBFS, but also because it depended on an old version of gsl, see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pspp/+publishinghistory and bug 1709158 for details. I skimmed the Debian changelog but didn't see anything mentionting gsl specifically. Do you know the current state of this issue? I assume it would need to be resolved as well in order to sync the package.

Hi,

pspp 0.10.2 fails to compile with gcc7.

pspp 1.0.1 will compile with gcc7. (Updated gnulib version).

pspp only has libgsl-dev as a dependency. This now results in a
depency of libgsl23 and this works on debian.

See: https://buildd.debian.org/status/logs.php?pkg=pspp&arch=amd64

The failed build 0.10.2-2+b1 changed the environment to libgsl23 and
to gcc7. But the problem was gcc7.

Friedrich

Ok, sounds good. I just figured it would be a shame to sync the package and then have it blocked by the ongoing transition. :)

I've subscribed ubuntu-release to this issue now, see also https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess.
