Boolean Operations on Groups

It would be very useful to be able to perform boolean operations on
groups. Union, Cut and Combine don't quite make sense, but Difference,
Intersection, Exclusion and Division seem to have a logical workflow. This

would make groups a lot more powerful. The operation would be
relatively straightforward: perform the boolean operation on each child of

the group individually for Difference and Intersection, create a duplicate

group and do mirror opposite operations on both old and new for
Exclusion and Division.

Great work on Inkscape.

This would be a welcome feature for sure!

At the moment, the only way to do this is to duplicate the top paths, and apply the boolean operations for each individual path.

Hi, I noticed that the Eraser tool in Inkscape 0.91 works fine on groups, so maybe most of the functionality is already here?

The Eraser tool cannot use pre-existing paths tho, it only works by drawing one by hand.

Cutting groups using paths would be very useful.

Yes, I vote for this feature as well. I teach inkscape and it's quite counter-intuitive for the students that groups block logical operations. Technically it seems doable: just ungroup objects, then make union from what was a group before, then do the logical operation.

A workaround for the problem in this report can be the multi-bool extension https://github.com/Moini/inkscape-extensions-multi-bool

But still, having it natively would be better.
