Unable to use gdebi-gtk on Wayland session

Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Ubuntu 17.10.
2. Install gdebi-gtk package
3. Try to install deb-file (for example http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/s/systemd-ui/systemd-ui_3-4_i386.deb)
4a. Gdebi GUI opens, clicked Install package, entered sudo password, window closes.
4b. In console it prints error messages:

$ gdebi-gtk ~/Downloads/systemd-ui_3-4_i386.deb
No protocol specified
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
No protocol specified
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
No protocol specified
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
Segmentation fault
