Bug Description

Just wanted to ask if SVG 1.2 compliance is planned
and if it is the case, when can we expect such a
change. I'd really love to have CMYK in SVGs since I
use Scribus (www.scribus.net) and it would be great to
import CMYK SVGs in the layouts without having to
convert them to EPS.

Thanks!

Seems to me that Scribus should be able to import RGB
correctly and directly.

From the various CMYK requests I've seen, I'm guessing that
the conversion from CMYK to RGB works better than RGB to CMYK.

Yes, it does import RGB, but what would you do with it? When
you work with printed graphics, you need CMYK color scheme
because sometimes a very ugly color shift happens when
automatically converting RGB to CMYK.

Having CMYK SVGs will improve at least 2 things:
1- The accuracy of colors for printed graphics (placing CMYK
SVGs directly into Scribus will help users to get rid of the
color shifts happening when RGB is converted to CMYK
automatically)
2- Help spread SVG as a vector format in the prepress world.

I'd say that SVG is for now useless for the printed
graphics...

We've started incorporating LittleCMS... and are on track to add at least
some
CMYK support after 0.44 is released. In the meantime, the main holdup on
SVG 1.2 compliance is that SVG 1.2 is not yet released.

Oh, and this seems to basically duplicate RFE #1008409, so I'll close this
one
out as a dup.
