Bug Description

Hi all,

AFAIK inkscape always uses the RGB model in exported
eps files. However, often it is desirable to have the
colors in the eps files defined in CMYK. (I don't know
if anybody wants HSB.)

It would be very nice if one could choose the model in
the export dialog.

Regards,

Kevin

+1, color in EPS must be defined as CMYK to be usable in the
print.

+1, I am definitivelly for this choice, cmyk is needed when
giving the result of work to the printer. After having
colour management and cmyk integration done, this feature
would be really good to add.

Currently I use pscol
(http://www.mpch-mainz.mpg.de/~joeckel/pscol/) which helps
in many cases. This is only a temporary solution, though.

I think this issue was forgotten. Correct CMYK export is very important for prints. I hope you'll work on this soon.

Not at all. There has been work in this area (and others related to CMYK and color management), but the task is not trivial.
There are lots of other important bugs yet to solve and not so many developers, so the work isn't fast, but it's being made.

Will the export dialog list all the available ICC profiles? E.g. the ones like /usr/share/color/icc/*.cc and perhaps also on other places? I.e. a way to manage where Inkscape can find the available profiles and remember the last one you have used.

Hi,

I use cairo to produce pdf document. This work very well.

Now I would like to produce a CMYK document, unfortunately cairo doesn't
support color space.

I've get onto this subject here :

http://lists.cairographics.org/archives/cairo/2009-February/016628.html

Color space support can be useful for :

* PDF backend
* PS backend
* SVG backend
* PNG backend

Best regards,
Stephane

@Pander: I would ask questions of this nature on the mailing lists, the bug tracker is not an appropriate place for this discussion. The devel or user lists would be where to ask: https://inkscape.org/en/community/mailing-lists/

Best response for demotivating people to donate.

@Eduard: I'm sorry you see it that way. First, it would be inappropriate to solicit donations via the bug tracker. Second, and more important, no fundraisers have been started yet, so there is no place to donate for the specific cause Pander would like. By referring Pander to the mailing lists, it will allow for a discussion to begin about starting a fundraiser aimed at what Pander would like to see. Starting a fundraiser will take motivation, so if asking to a person to inquire further about it an appropriate place is demotivating, then it's already a non-starter. If one would like to just donate to the project and not have it earmarked for a specific cause they can always go to https://inkscape.org/en/donate/
