export to gif

Hi, is it possible add a function to export an image to
gif?. With this you will be able to animate images.

I'm struggling to use .svg on Webpages, where GIF is still
needed for full browser compatibility. Having crated
the .svg I'd like to export a GIF with choice of size
(aspect ratio locked) and choice of transparency.

gdkpixbuf based JPEG support hasn't even been enabled yet.
gdkpixbuf doesn't have GIF support and it would be more
appropropriate for any work to be done in GTK gdkpixbuf
rather than Inkscape.

It doesn't work that way.

Reducing priority way down, although personally i think this
suggestion should be rejected entirely in favour of PNG and
MNG.

I'm closing this request as I believe it is beyond the scope
of Inkscape.

I would recommend exporting to PNG and using another
application to convert to GIF, ifranview or Xnview for
example.

As mentioned before Gif support could possibly be
implemented in gdkpixbuf - I think most of the patents have
expired at this stage - but it better done outside of
Inkscape.
