Thank you for your bug report, it works fine here under wayland, could you reply to some questions
- Do you use the interface or keybindings to the take the screenshots?
- Do you have any error in your system logs or if you start gnome-screenshot from a command line?
- What version of the package do you use?

- It doesn't matter if i use the Keyboard Binding, or call "gnome-screenshot" by hand - the result is the same.
- No, no errors in the log or console window
- Version is: 3.25.0-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 17.10 daily build

With some recent update to 17.10, this issue seems to be fixed, at least on my machine. Creating Screenshots with gnome-screenshot works as expected

@seb128 I've made several tests here:

Full screen:
Calling "gnome-screenshot -c" doesn't put anything on the clipboard, it reports "There is no image data in the clipboard to paste". When calling via UI, a full screen and sending to clipboard, pasting into GIMP, it just pastes the top part of the screen (kind of out-of-buffer-memory problem maybe?)

Part of screen:
When selecting a small sector of the screen with "shift + printscreen" button, it's not sent to the clipboard. When using the gnome-screenshot UI, a sector of screen can be sent to the clipboard.
With "gnome-screenshot -a -c", from GIMP it reports "There is no image data in the clipboard to paste".

Same version as reported by @egon-rath

Sorry for wrong posting. I'm new in gnome! "Shift + printscreen" saves a file in Pictures (doesn't put in the clipboard). So my testing should be updated with that (the shortcuts are working fine on my machine!!!)

No screenshots go to my clipboard either. Saving to files is just fine

I got the same issue like reported by @cruz-fernandez - small screenshost may work, larger ones will just display the top part, and most of the times there is nothing to paste...saving always works.

I also tried shutter, with the effect that when you hit the "Selection" button you will not see the desktop --> you just see the shutter logo all over the screen and this is the only thing you will capture...

Is there any update on this issue? I posted a thread on /r/gnome and didn't really get any good feedback (https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/86dcnh/gnomescreenshot_copy_to_clipboard_fails_on_medium/)

Ubuntu 17.10 (artful) reached end-of-life on July 19, 2018.

Are there any outstanding issues when using a currently supported release of Ubuntu as I'm finding everything works as expected in Ubuntu 18.04? Can this bug report be closed now?

PrtScrn, Alt+PrtScrn and Shift-PrtScrn create files in ~/Pictures while adding the Ctrl key to those shortcuts copies the relevant images to the clipboard.

Thanks for your reply Oliver.

Reporter says issue fixed in comment #3.

I've also tested in as per my comment #9 with the current development version (19.10) and everything works as it should. In the absence of any other reply and no comments about the reported problem for nearly a year and a half I'm closing this as being fixed.
