Bug Description

I select the Statistics Report and specify the Expense view and Category (BY) to aggregate. This opens up a window with the list of categories with their subtotals which is a summary report. I highlight one of the categories and select the Toggle Detail button which brings up all the detail records for the category selected in a pane underneath the pane that contains the category totals. I then select the Export as CSV button hoping to export the detail records in the lower pane but all that gets exported are the contents of the upper pane which contains only the summary records. What I really would find useful is that the detail records to be exported to CSV in this particular case where I have highlighted a specific Category.

When one is exporting records in CSV oftentimes the intent is to further manipulate those records in a spreadsheet to distill out information one cannot easily distill in HomeBank itself. I believe that the ability to export the detail records via the Export CSV button in the Statistics report would greatly enhance the reporting features in HomeBank.

Thank you very much.

I am using HomeBank 5.1.5 Running against GTK+ 3.22.7 on a PC running
Windows 10.

The above is a screen shot before I push the ExportCSV button.

The below is a screen shot after I push the ExportCSV button and look
in the output file.

But what I am asking for is that the ExportCSV button simply export the
two detail transactions in CSV rather than what you see above. I do not
want to edit the transactions from the detail pane - I want to export
the transactions from the detail pane to CSV. Even with the "Housing
Costs" category highlighted in the summary pane and two transactions
showing in the detail pane all I can get when I click the ExportCSV
button is the records in the summary pane. My request for enhancement
is to try and get the records in the detail pane into CSV format if
there are any visible in the detail pane. It is useful that one can
directly edit a transaction in the detail pane by double clicking on it
but that's not what I am asking for.

Thanks.

the point is not to understand your request, the title by itself was sufficient for this.
I will not replace the actual export by the detail part.

the point is to understand how a complex scenario of exporting transaction from here and manipulate it into a spreadsheet tool (and then reimport it into HB?) could be profitable (usability) to everyone and not only to your usage.

There is no desire to reimport  the records into HomeBank. The intent is
to take the detail records and further manipulate them in a spreadsheet
for whatever purpose you want. I will give an example below.

Let's say I want to get my annual income taxes done so I have to gather
my records and take them to my tax accountant. In order to deduct
medical expenses they must exceed 7.5% of my income. I have all my
medical expenses in HomeBank ledgers but they are in subcategories such
as Medical:Doctor, Medical:Dentist, Medical:Drugs, etc. The tax
accountant wants to discern which of these expenses are deductible -
removal of a tumor is deductible but cosmetic surgery to remove a wart
is not deductible - so simply an aggregate Medical total is not
sufficient. Nor are the various subcategories sufficient. I need detail
records for all the Medical categories which I export to a spreadsheet
and delete out the nondeductible entries and then provide this revised
total to my tax accountant.

Or I need the detail records of the Medical categories to get reimbursed
for the deductible medical expenses from a Health Savings Account (HSA)
and for the non deductible medical expenses from a Flexible Spending
Account (FSA).  I would take the exported records into the spreadsheet
and filter out the records into two categories - those that can be
satisfied by withdrawals from the HSA and those that can be satisfied by
withdrawals from the FSA.

My request for enhancement was for you to provide a means to export the
records in the detail pane so that a person can further manipulate those
records in a spreadsheet to distill information not easily gotten via
the reporting facilities within HomeBank.

Regards

mikhailo is not the only one. I came here looking for exactly this functionality. I want to export to CSV
( or copy to clipboard) the Details data for a single Category. Today, I have many medical transactions spread through 4 accounts. I want to analyse the details in a single spreadsheet.

What have your preference:
- copy to clipboard
- save to csv file

and do you think export as csv file is still useful if I do implement copy to clipboard ?

I think the save to  CSV is the more useful option.  But either option
is a good one.  Were you to implement only the copy to clipboard  option
I believe most users would end up pasting contents of the  clipboard
directly into a spreadsheet rather than inserting the contents  of the
clipboard into a document  or  an email but that is just a presumption
on my part.

Merry Christmas to  you.

This stopped working for me. (I am using Homebank version 5.5.3 on Ubuntu 20.04.)

I used to be able to export my monthly expenses by sub-category to a CSV file. Now, no matter what I do, the "Detail to clipboard" and "Detail to CSV" buttons in the statistics report module are greyed out for me.

Any advice? Thank you so much.
