TB and language pack worked until update today.

status installed thunderbird:amd64 1:56.0~b1+build1-0ubuntu0.17.04.3
status installed thunderbird-locale-de:amd64 1:56.0~b1+build1-0ubuntu0.17.04.3
on
Linux 4.10.0-30-generic (x86_64) Ubuntu 17.04 Desktop Environment MATE

Thunderbird starts with a blank screen. see picture

Thunderbird works as expected after removing thunderbird-locale-de_56.0~b1+build1-0ubuntu0.17.04.3_amd64.

After reinstalling the language-pack, same error exists.

After automatic update to new kernel (Linux 4.10.0-32-generic (x86_64) Ubuntu 17.04 Desktop Environment MATE) and TB 1:56.0~b2+build1-0ubuntu0.17.04.1 and language pack thunderbird-locale-de_56.0~b2+build1-0ubuntu0.17.04.1_amd64.deb same problem exists.

Just for info: I tried installing NL language pack for testing. I get TB working in US-EN like without any language pack. The NL pack is installed and active but not used, see picture

Presumably the issues raised in this bug report were resolved in later Thunderbird releases and this bug report can now be closed?
